Far East Jewelers uses a product photo in which the background was removed and replaced with a gradient. The cords for the necklaces were also faded into the background. A pale jade green was chosen for the color of the type in keeping with the asian theme.

The challenge in the CD cover was the delicate masking of the hair wisps to remove the original background and replace it with one of my own. The feathers were drawn in Illustrator and then shaded and textured in Photoshop. The title was given a gradient stroke to create a glint.

In the ad above, the monitor was drawn with the shape and marquee tools. It was then shaded with gradients. The octopus and the ocean used three photos. The reflection combined the first octopus with a second showing the underside of the animal.

The watch in the ad above was created by merging two different photos of watches, and then adding my own maker name to the face. It then had the color removed for the silvery effect. The dotted background was first drawn in Illustrator and then shaded and textured in Photoshop using filters and layer effects.

To the left is a comp front cover for the Mesa Softball Media Guide. I used a dynamic action photo and treated it with various filters and overlays so that the specific player could not be recognized. I wanted her to represent the team as a whole and not showcase a particular member. I used gradient effects to shade the background shapes and the name of the team.

Golden Buddha makes use of the 3D tools available in Photoshop. The burst effect was created using
the <new mesh from greyscale> command on a pattern. It was then screened back and the edges accentuated with the brush and smudge tools.

The woman’s figure for Back Ache was created in Illustrator using blends. The concentric rings were created by a custom gradient set on radial. The miniature box was done by making a composed layer of the full size image and then reducing and warping it to achieve perspective.
